WE ARE

ACI, Association for Empowerment and Integration, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the empowerment and integration of children in the community.

Our mission is to provide social support and training resources to empower children who face social and cultural inclusion challenges, namely health, linguistic, cultural or socioeconomic barriers.

Through differentiated programs and projects, at ACI we aim to promote autonomy, self-confidence and the skills necessary for the successful integration of children into their social environment.

To overcome the challenges posed by the growing number of emigrants in the ICA we believe it is essential:

promote constructive dialogue between families and members of the local community,
implement inclusive and difference-sensitive integration policies,
invest in programs that promote coexistence and mutual understanding.

By working TOGETHER - local authorities, the Santarém community and the migrant community - we can make Santarém an example !

It is at school that children experience the greatest difficulties in inclusion, especially in relation to their peers. Children are not always aware of the impact that their words or actions can have on children with integration difficulties, particularly children with special needs and migrant children.

At ACI we believe that education, awareness raising and strengthening social ties are essential to building more resilient and balanced communities .

One way to ensure children's well-being is to provide families with tools that allow them to deal with the difficulty of including their children .

Migrant families may face additional challenges such as lack of financial resources, lack of knowledge of the education system or lack of willingness to support their children's learning process, which will negatively affect the academic performance and emotional well-being of migrant children.

At ACI we focus much of our efforts on supporting these families.
