In Portugal, the number of migrants has doubled in the last ten years, while in Santarém this number has tripled in the last five years (2024 data). As a district with a strong agricultural component, Santarém is the destination for thousands of migrants every year. Many bring their families and children, and some of these children have special needs.

At ACI we promote several actions with the Scalabitan community in order to provide tools that allow them to deal with these daily challenges of integration and inclusion .
